I discovered photography in college, and am one of those rare, misguided people who actually holds a degree in the medium. I’ve been photographing weddings professionally for over ten years, and have had my work described as energetic and emotive, full of humor and connection. I’ve always been completely transfixed by a captured moment between people… that frozen slice of time that tells a larger story about who we are now and where our hopes and dreams may take us. I’ve never genuinely questioned whether I was on the right path: I love making art.

Melissa is a Seattle-raised transplant to the south with an MFA in photography from UNC Greensboro. She’s worked as an assistant to such photography greats as the Starn Brothers and Leslie Dill, and has experience with fine printmaking and historical photographic processes. Her training and technical expertise bolster an emotional sensibility that guides her lens toward meaningful moments of fun and excitement, and loves being able to create unique imagery for every couple she works with.
