I am first and foremost a wedding photographer.

I've been photographing weddings since 2007, and over the course of that time have worked with hundreds of couples. Those couples have all been unique, and have had their own ideas, goals, and priorities, and it's important to me to hear about what's going to make your wedding day - and in particular, your photographs - perfect for YOU. But for all their differences, many of my clients share a few of the same, important questions, so I've put together the answers to some of the most common ones below.


How would you describe your style and philosophy?

If I had to pick three words I would say artistic, documentary, and emotive. 

My background is in fine art and art history. I want to capture fleeting moments in a way that grabs your attention and shows you a new perspective. Not only do I want you to be delighted by how your photographs make you look and feel, I also want to create images with fun composition that pays attention to color, light, movement, and emotion. 

My job as your wedding photographer is to document you and your loved ones celebrating a huge milestone in your lives in a way that is authentic to you and will be beloved by your family for generations to come, regardless of changes in wedding trends and fashions. I won't drag you away from your cocktail hour for more time than it takes to get a few great portraits; I won't demand attention from you or your guests in a way that is obnoxious; I won't be trying to arrange a styled photo of your wedding shoes while your grandmother sneaks in to see you getting ready.

My goal is to capture emotions and moments and stories throughout your wedding day. I look for laughter, for nerves, for connection, for emotion, for goofiness, for fun, and (of course) for love. 

what is your pricing?

Shopping for a photographer doesn't have to be complicated, frustrating, or confusing. After years of trying every pricing/package model I could dream up, I simplified my services to include everything I would want if I were hiring someone to document one of the most important moments of my life. My wedding service starts at $4,750 and includes a complete set of printable digital files. I'm a passionate printmaker so all of my clients will receive some kind of print related gift from me as well as print credit, and I offer a full range of printing, framing, and album-making services. 

Do you offer engagement portraits?

Definitely. Engagement photography sessions are more than standing in front of various backdrops and kissing. I like them to be activity based so the final result is a collection of images that tells the story of a great evening in our chosen locations. We can travel to the beach, mountains, foreign country, city, your favorite cafés/restaurants/bars, or anything we can dream up. Sessions include a complete set of digital files for $850. 

Do You Work with second shooters?

Depending on the size and setup of the wedding, I'm happy to make recommendations about whether a second shooter is right for you, and who might be a good fit. I have a great team of professional photographers with whom I regularly work, and when you add a second shooter to your package, you can expect an experienced, professional, and fun addition to your day.

What would happen if you were sick or injured and couldn't get to our wedding?

Those same photographers that I mentioned above? They're my backup and I'm theirs. In the EXTREMELY unlikely case that something were to prevent me from being in attendance at your wedding (which in ten years has yet to happen... knock wood!), one of them would step up to the plate for me. I trust each of them implicitly, and would rest assured that you would be thrilled with your images.

When will we get to see our photos, and how many will we receive?

Wedding images take around 6-8 weeks to get all polished up, and I try to present a complete story without lots of duplicates… which usually means 400-500 images.

How many weddings do you shoot?

Because I work closely with my couples to give them all the attention and creative energy they deserve, I limit my wedding bookings to 25 a year.



How do you give us our files?

I deliver all high-resolution .jpg files (along with your print release and detailed instructions and recommendations on backing up and preserving those files) on a custom USB drive in a beautiful wood box. You’ll also have access to a private online gallery that makes it easy to share your images with friends and family.
